Geoffrey L. Silverman

Geoffrey L. Silverman is Of Counsel to the firm.  He has over 43 years of experience focused in the areas of creditors’ rights and bankruptcy, asset protection, sale and financing of real estate and businesses, shareholder and member disputes, and transactional work.  He comes to the firm after more than 31 years as a founding member of Silverman & Morris PLLC and Shefferly, Silverman & Morris P.C.

Geoff was the long-time co-author of the chapter on “Representing Small Business Debtors in Bankruptcy” in the Institute of Continuing Legal Education’s regular publication Handling Consumer and Small Business Bankruptcies in Michigan. He has given numerous presentations to his peers on various aspects of creditors’ rights and asset protection, and has served as an expert in litigation on related issues.

Geoff holds an undergraduate degree from Indiana University and graduated with honors from the University of Michigan Law School in 1979. He practiced law in Indiana for two years before coming to Michigan in 1981. Geoff is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and involved in its Real Property Law Section, Debtor/Creditor Committee. He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Oakland County Bar Association.

Geoff has been recognized for many years by Super Lawyers. He is listed in Martindale-Hubbell’s Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers that have earned the AV Peer Review Rating.
