Matthew A. Ferrara

Matt Ferrara joined the firm in 2011 after graduating from Wayne State University Law School. His practice focuses on assisting clients navigate issues including estate planning, estate and trust administration, and business startup & succession planning. He strongly encourages people addressing these issues to do so with professional guidance because it is all too easy to make mistakes when relying on DIY advice from friends or information found on the internet.

As part of his practice, Matt seeks to be an advocate for the estate planning process for all people, and through partnerships with community groups, Michigan-based credit unions, and financial planners he speaks to the public in an effort to educate as many people as possible on the subject. It is important to him that people in all financial circumstances understand how they can benefit from having a plan for their future.

Before becoming a lawyer, Matt was fortunate to have a number of unique life experiences. He’s a former Teamster, having worked through college hauling boxes in a warehouse. While earning an undergraduate degree in Theatre Design and Technical Production from Western Michigan University he worked for DisneyWorld. After college he spent a number of years working in and running bars and restaurants, having held just about every job from dishwasher to general manager.  Matt brings the knowledge gained from this diverse background to the process of guiding people through the difficult decisions which must be made in order to properly plan for the future.

Matt is a former President of the Michigan Chapter of the Financial Planning Association and a member of the Probate and Elder Law Sections of the State Bar of Michigan. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan and regularly practices in Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb counties.
